About Shiv Shakti Baba Kalidas Dham

Shiv Shakti Baba Kalidas Dham has been established at various locations across India and Nepal under the divine spiritual guidance of Baba Shri Shri Kalidas Swami Krishnananda Paramhansa.

Early Life of Guruji

Shri Shri 1008 Shri Baba Kalidasji Maharaj, later revered as Shri Krishnananda Paramhansa, was born on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami in 1951 in the Okhaldhunga district of Nepal. Born into a respected and spiritually devoted family, Guruji was the eldest son of renowned astrologer Shri Manohar Dahal and his deeply religious wife. Under the guidance of his father, Guruji mastered the science of astrology at the remarkable age of nine. After completing his schooling, Guruji moved to Kathmandu for higher studies and later continued his education in Darjeeling, where he graduated successfully. He subsequently pursued post-graduation studies at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University. From 1971 to 1973, Guruji served as a lecturer at a Science College in Kathmandu. Soon after, he withdrew from worldly life and embarked upon a profound spiritual journey that would transform countless lives.

The Seven Years of Spiritual Quest

During these years of intense spiritual seeking and tapasya, Guruji travelled across different parts of India. He first arrived in Tinsukia, Assam, where he stayed with a humble Nepali family. During this period, many extraordinary incidents were witnessed by the family members. It was often seen that while Guruji rested, a serpent would quietly coil around Him, disappearing mysteriously once He awoke. Later, Guruji travelled through Rajasthan, spending long periods in solitude and meditation. For nearly one and a half years, He reportedly neither sat nor lay down, choosing instead to continue walking and meditating in forests and remote areas. At one stage, Guruji meditated in a Hanuman temple beside a river. During severe flooding, while the surrounding area submerged completely, the temple where Guruji meditated remained untouched. News of this miraculous occurrence spread rapidly among devotees. Guruji’s journey then led Him back to Assam, where He undertook an intense tapasya near the sacred Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. Deep within a dangerous forest beside the Brahmaputra River, Guruji meditated continuously for 113 days. According to devotees, wild animals guarded and protected Him during this sacred period. It was here that Guruji attained divine enlightenment. Following this, Guruji entered deep meditation underwater in a sacred kund for another 93 days, completing His spiritual austerities and sacred rites at a place now known as Panchmundi.

Guruji Becomes Paramhansa

During Guruji’s tapasya, a spiritually enlightened Guru Mata from Haridwar discovered a will left by her Guru stating that his spiritual legacy should pass to a saint named “Kalidas.” After learning about Guruji’s spiritual achievements, she invited Him to Haridwar, where He was formally initiated and bestowed with the revered title of “Paramhansa” in the presence of great saints and Shankaracharyas from across India. Thus, Shri Baba Kalidasji Maharaj became widely known as Shri Krishnananda Paramhansa.

Return to Tinsukia and Divine Experiences

In 1980, Guruji returned to Tinsukia and began construction of a temple dedicated to Maa Durga. Several miraculous experiences associated with Guruji are still remembered by devotees. One such event occurred when a lotus flower was reportedly found blooming without water at the very spot where Guruji used to meditate. Guruji later entered an underground meditation chamber within the temple complex and remained in deep meditation for another 93 days. Devotees believe that upon emerging, Guruji manifested the divine form of Maa Durga, leaving everyone astonished and spiritually overwhelmed.

Service to Humanity

For more than three decades, Guruji has dedicated His life to the spiritual upliftment and welfare of humanity. Under His guidance, numerous temples and ashrams have been established across India and abroad. Hospitals and gaushalas have been developed for public welfare, and spiritual activities and humanitarian services continue to benefit thousands of devotees. Guruji’s teachings are rooted in Love, Humility, Compassion, Peace, and Selfless service.

Shri Rudra Chandi Akhand Mahayagya

On 29 July 2007, Guruji initiated the historic Shri Rudra Chandi Akhand Mahayagya for world peace and the well-being of humanity. Despite challenges and opposition, the Mahayagya continued uninterrupted for an entire year and concluded successfully on 18 July 2008 at Sampla, Haryana. Devotees and local residents regard this event as spiritually transformative, bringing positive changes, harmony, and renewed faith to the region.
